Everything You Need to Know About Christmas on 30A

Spending Christmas on 30A for the first time? We might not be known for our white Christmases (unless you count white sandy beaches), but that doesn’t mean that we don’t know how to put on a great time during the holidays. You’re bound to see Christmas lights all over South Walton, whether covering residences or special events. Here’s our guide to getting the most of Christmas on 30A.

What to Do for Christmas

There are amazing shops, museums, and restaurants throughout 30A where you can enjoy your time here year round. And of course, the main draw to 30A — the beaches. Christmas on the beach can be relaxing and refreshing, especially with a beach bonfire to add warmth and keep the celebrations going. You can also go ice skating in Baytowne Wharf or check out the unique coastal dune lakes near Grayton Beach.

Where to See Christmas Lights

Christmas lights are a big part of the season, and it doesn’t quite feel like the holiday without them. Fortunately, there are no shortage of Christmas lights here. If just driving around the street doesn’t provide enough Christmas lights, here are a few suggestions:

  • Alys Beach. In the center of the Alys Beach amphitheater is a colorfully lit Christmas tree, topped with a star made of lights. Many of the shopping centers also have decorated trees. There’s a similar tree in the Amphitheater at Seaside.
  • Baytowne Wharf. Every weekend in December leading up to Christmas, you can find a splendid light show over the lagoon here that’s sure to wow all ages.
  • Miramar Beach’s Grand Boulevard. A popular spot for shopping, Grand Boulevard goes all out with Christmas lights when the season rolls around. Make sure not to miss the Festival of Trees while you’re there.
  • Rosemary Beach Town Hall. Throughout Rosemary Beach, you’ll find oak trees dressed elegantly in Christmas lights, but the piece of pride is the Norwegian Spruce near town hall. This tree is 25-feet tall, pointed, and covered in Christmas lights. The tree lighting happens every November, shortly before Thanksgiving.

Where to Do Christmas Shopping

Grand Boulevard on Miramar Beach is an excellent choice if you still need to get some Christmas shopping in. The decor is sure to put you in the holiday spirit and there are a number of shops and restaurants to find here, but there are shopping centers all around 30A. The Village of Baytowne Wharf is full of retail stores as well as restaurants and night clubs. Watercolor Merchants and Merchants of Seaside also offer a laid back beach community shopping experience.

Where to Eat Christmas Dinner

If you’re not having Christmas dinner at home, you’re sure to find it on 30A. Havana Beach Bar & Grill at The Pearl at Rosemary Beach serves both Christmas Eve Dinner and Christmas Day Dinner, three full courses each. Several restaurants, such as The Ocean Club at Miramar Beach and Cuvee 30A at Inlet Beach, have Christmas hours. You can also enjoy a picnic on the beach Christmas morning or pack food to roast over your beach bonfire on Christmas Eve.
